I was introduced to a new culinary tradition today at work. My boss brought in a yummy pastry and it was accompanied with a gold paper crown and a little white candy that looks like a choclate covered nut with white candy coating.
"Gallette des Rois" is what it is called. The French tradition is to celebrate the day of the epiphany. When the three kings paid their tribute to the newborn Jesus.
The pastry is damn good. I agree it's a king's dessert too. It's like a croissant but the inside has pastry filling and almond cream. I think I need to make it a new culinary tradition of mine too.
Next culinary tradition up: Chinese New Year weekend I eat multiple chinese food meals :)
